Happy 2015! I'm readying for a move in the next month or so, so I've been going through some things lately, including a lot of my comics from the '80s, a.k.a. the peak Howard Chaykin era. Hot damn, his American Flagg! books with First Comics and his Shadow mini-series at DC were (and still are!) something to study repeatedly, art and design-wise.
I'll probably be doing more of these quick character studies while my studio is in various states of disarray and I juggle between commissions and unpacking.

The best book he ever did visually was Blackhawk in the late 80s. 3 issue miniseries and it was also Ken Bruzenaks career best IMHO. That said, I loved the AF series.
