I've been wanting to take a crack at drawing Big Barda for awhile because of all that Jack Kirby goodness in the design. And then when I finally do, I ended up going with the simpler version of her costume ("simpler," since there is 98% less of it) because it's a glorified bikini, that's why. Maybe some day I'll do the multi-colored chain-mail armor/Buick-sized-headgear version, because Barda is just fun to draw. Maybe even a version with her other half, Mister Miracle.
I tried to keep the cropping tight on this to convey the "big" impression, while the knuckle cracking hopefully conveys that "Jack Kirby created me to whoop some butt" idea. And since it was just a character study piece I wasted a night playing with various graphic elements - I'll throw the alternate versions into a Tumblr post. (UPDATE: Here's the link:
