Teen Titans, Repaneled by mcguan Teen Titans, Repaneled by mcguan
It's been nearly two years, but I've made my return to the Repaneled blog this week, daring to remake an iconic Gil Kane splash page from the original run of Teen Titans. Man, now that I typed it out, what the hell was I thinking? Keep in mind, I wasn't trying to outdo Kane, because come on, that's not happening. The guy is a legend. Rather, once I got the image in my head of the "Girls mature faster" dynamic of the teen heroes, I had to put pen-to-paper (-to-pixels).

Click here to check it out next to the original by Kane (with inks by Nick Cardy) from Teen Titans vol. 1 #22: [link]

Created with PITT Pens, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS 5.5.

(Somewhat ironically, I've always wanted to remake the iconic cover for the issue that follows this re-introduction for the Covered blog, [link] but unfortunately that site is shuttering it's doors this week. Great site, gone too soon.)

Thanks - depicting them as awkward teens/pre-teens made this one a lot of fun. Especially Robin.

Sweet:D. I love the Teen Titans:nod:. I'm trying to collect the comics starting at the beginning:). Do you draw requests?

Robin looks like the spokespeson or whatever from MAD magazine. Speedy looks like he's on his way to becoming the womanizer he is known to be, and kid flash might need to go change his shorts

Yeah, I wanted to give Kid Flash that "I'll be in my bunk" vibe. Thanks for checking it out!

Unfortunately, if Donna Troy shows up in the New 52, she would have torpedoes attached to her chest and armed with massive guns...that are holding massive guns.

Yeah... they've made some curious choices with the New 52. I've been on the fence for the most part. (But then again, I've liked one of the changes that most everyone else seems opposed to, so maybe I can't talk).

Color me curious; what change did you like as oppose to everyone else? I'm not a typical internet person, so I won't rage ;)

I like the direction Brian Azzarello has taken Wonder Woman all together, and I thought his take on the Amazons - and particularly the reason why there are no men are the island - was bold, original and completely fit. But that aspect of the new WW has it's vocal opponents.

I feel the same way, to be honest. And the bit about amazons seducing men to procreate is partially accurate to the mythology, depending on the source.

And while I was originally unhappy with the origin change for Diana, I found myself not caring about it as the story continued. It also opens up a new dynamic for supporting characters and villains. Provided Azzarello sticks with the book for as long as possible, I would like to see what else he has in store for Wonder Woman.

That's the thing - He and Cliff Chiang have been making some really big changes and I think it's exactly the shot in the arm the character needed. You can't please all the people all of the time, but they can make it an interesting journey, as they should.

If you asked me at the start of the relaunch what I thought my favorite book of the New 52 would be one year later, I don't think WW would have been a top 5 guess. But it wins easily for me.

Heaven forbid someone at DC does something mediocre, like, making her and Superman lovers... That'd be silly =P
